Retro Tower Defense EXP Farming

Farm Retro Tower Defense EXP by comparing completed runs, mission overlap, difficulty, modifiers, speed and downtime instead of trusting one inflated rate.

The fastest EXP farm is the route that gives the most saved EXP per real minute, not the highest difficulty you can barely enter. Retro Tower Defense officially awards EXP through play, and account levels can unlock progression benefits. To find a good route, compare complete runs under the same conditions: map, difficulty, party size, modifiers, speed setting, boosts and lobby downtime.

Public sources do not provide a permanent official payout table. Instead of inventing “EXP per hour,” this guide gives you a short test that produces a rate for your account today and helps you improve it.

Quick leveling route

  1. Open Missions and choose a win, map or tower objective that overlaps with normal farming.
  2. Select the highest difficulty you can clear reliably without repeated revives or long failures.
  3. Use a compact loadout: affordable opener, wave clear, boss damage and only the support/economy that pays back before the result.
  4. Record starting EXP and the clock when the queue begins.
  5. Finish three runs, including lobby and loading time.
  6. Record ending EXP, completed Missions and any boost.
  7. Compare the average with one lower difficulty and keep the better real-minute route.

Do not change map, party, boost and loadout simultaneously. A controlled comparison shows whether the new difficulty actually improves progress.

Choose a difficulty you can finish

Start with Normal if your account is still assembling a complete role set. Move to Hard or Insane only after the opener, detection and boss plan are repeatable. A run that fails during the final threat often has worse EXP/minute than a lower difficulty, even if its reward preview is larger.

Use Hard Mode and Insane Mode to diagnose the failure. If the team leaks early, change the opener or upgrade order. If the final target survives, keep the ordinary wave core and add boss damage. If the map wastes your range, test a map with better coverage before replacing the whole loadout.

Endless is useful for long sessions and specific progression, but it should not automatically be your account-level farm. Measure the point where the run slows, requires constant attention or begins failing. Leaving after a profitable milestone can beat pushing a record attempt.

Stack Missions without ruining the run

The official description says Missions/quests unlock towers, and current interface reporting groups tasks under Challenges. Before farming, look for objectives that match the same map, mode, tower or win. Equip a required tower in the flex slot only when the remaining team can still clear.

Claim daily or event rewards separately from repeatable match EXP. Write down the reset displayed in your client. If a route looks dramatically better only because it includes a one-time mission, do not advertise that number as an hourly farm.

Build for speed and consistency

Use the Best Loadout blueprint, then remove luxury slots. An opener should require few actions. Wave clear should cover the main route without scattered upgrades. Boss damage should be ready before the final threat. Economy is helpful only if its payoff arrives before the run ends.

In multiplayer, agree who opens, who brings support and who handles late damage. A coordinated group can reduce round time, but public matchmaking can also add waiting and inconsistent builds. Measure party routes separately from solo routes.

VIP’s public description has included an XP benefit and faster match speed. If you own it, label the result VIP and do not compare it directly with a free account. The Gamepasses guide separates public benefits from live values.

Common EXP farming mistakes

  • Quoting a boosted reward as the base rate.
  • Ignoring failed attempts, queue time and result-save time.
  • Farming the highest difficulty instead of the best completion rate.
  • Carrying a mission tower that breaks the only functional loadout.
  • Using macros or scripts; automation can violate rules and risk the account.
  • Continuing a long Endless run after EXP/minute has dropped below a reliable clear.

EXP FAQ

What is the best EXP map?

There is no stable public official answer. Test three completed runs on two maps under the same difficulty and build. Prefer the map with higher saved EXP per real minute and fewer failure points.

Do modifiers increase EXP?

Community modifier tables show reward adjustments, but exact values can change. Read the live modifier card and keep badge restrictions in mind. Never add a modifier to a no-modifier objective.

Is VIP required for fast leveling?

No. VIP can change speed and EXP conditions according to its public description, but free accounts can improve completion, mission overlap and downtime. Keep rates labeled by entitlement.
