Retro Tower Defense Doombringer Tower

Use Doombringer as an affordable starter Heroic and follow the community-documented leaderboard, hidden entrance, maze and trophy route for Tier IV.

Doombringer is a beginner-friendly Heroic tower that community records list among the units available when a player first joins Retro Tower Defense. Its practical advantage is access: you can learn placement, upgrades and Heroic tiers without waiting for a rare banner pull. It is best treated as an affordable early-to-mid-game damage option with an area shockwave, not as a promise to carry every late Endless or Insane run.

Fresh-account grants can change, so open your collection before following a starter build. If Doombringer is present, equip it and verify the owned tier. If it is missing, do not buy or trade based only on this guide; use the acquisition source shown by the current collection card.

Where Doombringer fits

Place Doombringer where enemies bunch together inside its close-area attack. A bend, merge or slow section is better than the edge of a long straight path. Preview the circle and watch whether the shockwave reaches more than the direct target. If the map splits, do not spend every upgrade on one Doombringer while the other lane has no answer.

Its cheap early identity makes it useful while saving for a carry such as Chance, Noli or Mage. Upgrade until the opening is stable, then decide whether the next dollar should go into Doombringer, a separate wave-clear tower or boss damage. Community tier pages sometimes rank maximum Doombringer highly, but that does not mean a lower tier should consume the whole late-game budget.

Use the Best Loadout role blueprint: Doombringer usually occupies the opener or secondary wave-clear slot. In Hard Loadouts, keep a second source of detection and long-range pressure because its compact attack area may not cover every demanding route.

Community-reported Tier IV route

The current walkthrough route is not described by a public Plaything Games page, so the following steps are community reported. The route has changed before. If landmarks do not match, stop and use the embedded updated video rather than forcing an older entrance.

  1. Start in the lobby or exploration area and move to the leaderboard section.
  2. Find the brown door used as the current landmark.
  3. Inspect the nearby wall/floor area for a small hole. Recent instructions say this replaces an older route behind a blue building.
  4. Enter the hidden sub-area and continue into the maze.
  5. Follow the maze until you reach the trophy.
  6. Touch or interact with the trophy. Current reports say the game returns the player to Roger’s hard-defense area.
  7. Open the collection card and confirm that the Doombringer tier or related progress saved before leaving.

If the trophy does not register, step away, approach again and wait for the server response. Record the server time and a screenshot. Do not use an exploit or clipping script to bypass the entrance; route changes can make old videos look blocked even when a legitimate path moved.

Watch the updated path

The February 2026 walkthrough shows the revised Tier IV route. Match the landmarks to your current lobby before entering.

Upgrade and placement checklist

  • Confirm the owned tier before comparing values with a video.
  • Put the attack area over a section where several enemies overlap.
  • Buy only enough opening upgrades to stabilize the lane, then protect other routes.
  • Test Ghost, Slate, Flying or other detections on the live card; do not inherit them from a different tier.
  • Compare total round cost with the carry you plan to place later.
  • In multiplayer, tell the team that Doombringer is covering the opening so another player can prepare boss damage.

The strongest reason to keep Doombringer equipped is that it solves a real early timing at low opportunity cost. Replace it when the placement no longer clears the opening, the map gives it poor coverage, or your account owns a cheaper option that preserves more late-game space.

Doombringer FAQ

Is Doombringer free?

Community unit indexes list it among starting towers. Verify on a fresh account because onboarding grants can change.

Does Tier IV make Doombringer a universal carry?

No. A higher tier improves the owned tower, but mode, placement, traits, upgrade cost and support still determine performance. Keep a dedicated boss or late-scaling answer.

Why can I not find the old hidden entrance?

The community walkthrough reports that the route moved from an older blue-building landmark to a hole near a brown door by the leaderboard. Use current lobby landmarks and the dated video.
