Retro Tower Defense Classic Mode Guide

Understand Retro Tower Defense Classic mode, select difficulty and modifiers correctly, and queue badge-safe Forsaken clears without mixing the rules.

Classic is the standard wave-clear ruleset named in current Retro Tower Defense badge conditions. It is separate from the selected difficulty: you can queue Classic on Normal or Hard, and modifiers are another independent setting. This distinction matters because the Forsaken collaboration badges combine all three fields.

Before starting, read the final queue card in this order: map → ruleset (Classic) → difficulty → modifiers. A correct map with the wrong ruleset does not count. A Normal clear does not substitute for Hard. A helpful modifier can invalidate an objective that explicitly requires none.

These conditions come from public Roblox badge descriptions. The event/map selector remains the authority for which Forsaken maps are currently available. A badge page can remain public after the route closes.

How to queue Classic correctly

  1. Open the official experience and select Play/Event as appropriate.
  2. Choose a map that belongs to the objective. For an all-map badge, maintain a unique checklist.
  3. Select Classic as the ruleset.
  4. Choose Normal or Hard exactly as the badge requires.
  5. Open modifiers and clear every active item for Clean Sweep or Home Run.
  6. Ask each party member to read the final queue card before anyone starts.
  7. Complete the result screen and wait for progress to save.
  8. Update the checklist only after the badge or progress counter confirms the clear.

Do not rely on memory. Write the exact selector name, difficulty, modifier state, party size and result. Repeating one easy map cannot replace “every Forsaken map.”

Build for Classic

Classic still needs an opener, wave clear, boss pressure and a recovery plan. Use Best Loadout for Normal progression. For badge-safe Hard clears, use Hard Loadout and remove farm if it delays defense.

Community advice for developing Forsaken accounts has included Bling Bloxxer, Tycoon, Base, Jeff, Pistoler and other accessible units. Treat those as examples, not a mandatory list. Choose an opener you can place immediately, a tower for grouped waves, a late damage source and the detections shown by the live enemy card.

For no-modifier badges, do not compensate for a weak build by quietly enabling a reward-changing option. Learn the map on Normal, record the first failure and upgrade timing, then repeat Hard with the same route and earlier breakpoints.

Track every map without confusion

The audit found conflicting third-party Forsaken map names. Do not copy a list from a search result. Build the checklist from the live selector on the day you play. Use the Forsaken Maps page for the current evidence boundary and the Badges page for exact public objectives.

Assign one party member as recorder. After the result, the recorder reads the map name, difficulty and modifier state and waits for everyone to confirm. This prevents duplicate runs and gives a clean support record if the badge fails to award.

Classic failure recovery

If the lane leaks early, move the opener to longer coverage or buy its first meaningful upgrade earlier. If groups overwhelm, add AoE/control rather than more single-target damage. If the boss survives, keep the wave-clear route and change the late damage or support slot. If badge progress does not move, check Classic, difficulty, modifiers and unique map completion before replaying.

Do not leave immediately when the base survives. Wait for the result and save. Cross-experience rewards may need you to join Forsaken after the RTD badge is awarded.

Classic FAQ

Is Classic the same as Normal?

No. Classic is the ruleset named by the badges; Normal and Hard are difficulty selections. A Clean Sweep run needs Classic plus Normal plus no modifiers.

Can I use modifiers?

Home Turf’s public wording allows them. Clean Sweep and Home Run explicitly require no modifiers.

Where do the reward skins appear?

The current badge descriptions name rewards in Forsaken. Verify the RTD badge first, then open the partner experience and check its inventory.
